Grow Together

giving kids the roots to help them sprout

I wish I could have a "spy cam" somehow build-in to my reading glasses (which I wear most of the time anyway) so I could capture the audio and video of things my son does and says to replay for his grandparents and family that live so far away! I am pretty good with the camera - still photos aplenty at our house - ...seriously, tens of THOUSANDS of prints and digital pictures and he's not even 4!

Don't get me wrong, I have a DVD Video camera AND a Flip Video, and I use them both, the problem is my kid is well aware of when I am trying to video him and he stops whatever he is doing and wants to see himself on TV. *ugh* I hate when that happens, total buzz kill.

Let me give you an example of what I would have been able to capture if I had "said Spy Cam"...

This past Saturday morning I woke up at 6am, decided to go make some coffee downstairs and as I pass my son's room I stick my head in to see if he is awake. Nope. So I continue on my mission. I get the coffee and People magazine and head back upstairs to read.

After finishing my first cup I check in on him again figuring it is only a matter of minutes until he's up for the day. Again, nope, still sleeping cozily under the big down comforter. I continue to check on him every 30 minutes until 10 am when I see him laying there on his back, with his hands behind his head, staring off into space.

I say, "Hey Buddy, Good Morning! You are finally awake!"
To which he replies, "Mom, the birdies are singing to me!"
with a grin from ear to ear. "They are soooooooooo cuuuuute." And then he adds, "Don't they sound 'bee-U-duh-full'???"

I had to agree and added "They do Bud. And I bet they were trying to wake you up so gently cuz you are a big sleepy head!"

Don't you just love it when your kids wake up so happy and relaxed and glad to see you? I know I do.

Oh yes. The "Happy Mood" is awesome. Even better on school days almost than weekends!

And, agreed about the camera; same thing here. And, if I sneak and they hear the beep, or they sense someone watching it's all over -- no more candid camera....all fake posie and "Lemme see me! Lemme see me!"

No fair to parents! :-)

New entreprenuer idea. We should patten a video cam that can go in glasses, attached as a flower on your shirt, a head band..... Wait, they kinda' have that, huh. Poo.

That's the best kind of wake-up, so much better than them getting up on the wrong side of the bed. We never know what we're going to get around here. LOL!

Too cute! Thanks for sharing. :-)
