Anyone that knows me knows I have a 3 year old daughter with Down syndrome. She will actually be 4 in January. Raising a child with special needs has many challenges, but I believe firmly in expecting no less of her than I do of my other children. Last year at my middle daughter's dance recital there was a teenage girl with Down syndrome who did an excellent job. She was one of the best dancers in her group. This morning at 4am I felt a little hand on my arm, I opened my eyes to see a small, dark figure at my bedside. No words were spoken. I held out my arms and lifted all 34lbs of him into bed with me as he snuggled in, molded himself to my body (with his Piggy in hand) and wiggled his head under my chin.
