Hi Lis! Thanks for stopping by to say hi! :) We've had some frustrating times with regards to the courts and our foster child. It's taking soooooooo long to get her mother's rights terminated so we can adopt her. Her mom has an IQ of about 12 and is very manipulive. She's pulling out all the stops to mess this up! We did finally get the okay for the case worker to start the paperwork for the TPR (termination of parental rights), but 5 minutes before we in the court, she says, "I think my ex-husband is the father." Her ex is an abusive, manipulative, and bad-tempered. So the judge had to order a DNA test for him. If he is the father, we have a whole new case trying to keep her from an abusive situation! AHHHH! At least Shakima is safe, loved, and happy in our home (and hearts). We're not waiting to get her ... but dealing with family court can be very frustrating!

About Me
We're a family of six ... three older children (22, 20, 18... okay, grown adults!!) and a 15 month old girl. She's a precious Down Syndrome child we brought into our family (very unexpectedly) through foster care when she was 12 days old. We're now trying to adopt her! :) Eight years ago I founded Foolish Words, a ministry of writing and speaking. I’m an author of 30 books for children, youth, and adults. My published works also include magazine articles, devotional resources, greeting cards, song lyrics, curricula, and dramas. That’s the scoop!
