Grow Together

giving kids the roots to help them sprout

This week's question goes along with today's article at Root & Sprout, 'The Importance of Family Game Night.' What sort of games do you like to play together as a family?

My two oldest kids especially like to play UNO and Apples to Apples. Bridget has never really liked typical 'toddler games' such as CandyLand and Chutes & Ladders, but she does like Perfection - that game where you have to fit all the shapes in their appropriate spots before the timer runs out. Personally, I can't wait until they're old enough to play Scrabble; that's always been one of my favorites.

We love playing Cranium and SkipBo, however we got a Wii last Christmas. Now, we enjoy Wii Sports (Bowling, Outdoor Adventures, Tennis, Golf and Baseball) together. Since Wii, our game nights have been extended to several nights per week.

Being summer with temps in the high 90s we have been playing a lot of water games. Tag with wet sponges seems to be the favorite at the moment.

Hot or cold temperatures, inside or outside of the house, our most favorite game is hide and seek. We have been playing it for years and even GS2, who is now 3, is getting the hang of it.

We love Apples to Apples, dominoes and Set. We also love to play games on the Wii since we can all do that together as well. My youngest can now play Bingo - so it's been a lot of fun to be able to play that game with all 5 of us too. :)
