I like Tom Hanks. I've watched him since his early days on Bosom Buddies. I think he is a talented actor and has handled many different roles without seeming like it's Tom Hanks playing someone. I prefer his romantic comedies, but I'll usually watch anything he's in. Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Andy Griffith (believe it or not) are also great actors who become the role they are playing. The "chameleon" actors are true actors.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman - an excellent actor who's probably not at the top of many peoples' list.

I do not have a favorite, but Charlize Theron & Will Smith do come to mind...

I love to watch Johnny Depp because he is able to play so many different type of characters. Granted, some of them are very strange such as Willy Wonka.

My second choice is Kevin Costner. Being a country girl, he reminds me of 'the boy next door'. And, he is such a cutie.

Like Debbie, I also like actors who are chameleon actors, and the person who comes to mind is Daniel Day Lewis. He's such an amazing actor, and pretty hot too! I haven't seen all of his movies, but the ones I have seen show such a range of characters, especially in There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York. As for women, I'd say that I've always liked Kate Winslet for the same reason, even before she became so popular. She was great in Sense and Sensibility and in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind---both movies where she played characters of such extremes.

I watched River Wild with Meryl Streep a few days ago. The woman has talent up the ying-yang! Her ability to become her character, in any role she takes on, is amazing. And if you haven't seen Mama Mia yet then go rent it. I'm not really an Abba fan, but the movie was even funnier the second time. Streep once again wowed me with her voice and performance.

This is a difficult question, actually. I have many different favorite chracters/roles, and it's difficult to tease them out from the actors.

I think I am going to go with Clint Eastwood, for epitomizing cool in so many different ways and for so many years, and both Hepburns- Katherine and Audrey- for their wittiness, timelessness and style.

I love Robin Williams. He breathes so much life and emotion into the characters that he plays.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman is at the top of my list, then there are so many others. He was my only favorite for a few years, but now there are so many actors with such great roles lately that I have to start giving other people credit. Johnny Depp, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Don Cheadle, John C. Reilly, Daniel Day Lewis. Actresses, Juilanne Moore, Cate Blanchett, Ackk! There are just so many really good actors and actresses. Thanks for the hard question.

Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Robin Williams, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are all favorites. It is hard to narrow it down to just one.
