Grow Together

giving kids the roots to help them sprout

Believe it or not, we had ONE entry for last week's Thomas & Friends: Railway Friends giveaway. I'm a little perplexed, given the number of times I alerted Grow Together members, as well as my Facebook and Twitter friends. (that's hundreds of people!)

So I'm wondering, what was it about the giveaway that turned people off? Was it having to visit Root & Sprout to answer a trivia question? It was a really simple one. Was it because it was open only to US residents? Or maybe it was because you had to copy and paste the "giveaway" email address into a new message instead of just clicking on it . . .

I'd really like to know so we can provide great products and maximize the number of entries in the coming weeks to make it fun for everyone.

You know I'm always game for entering your giveaways! I wasn't turned off by any of the steps... just wasn't interested in the product this time. :)

My computer has been freaking out for a while so I missed this one. I'm always up for a giveaway!

Hi Lis,
Aside from the fact that I live in Canada, I didn't enter simply because I had no use for the giveaway. My children are grown, but do not have children yet and I don't have friends or family with small children.
It is perplexing as to why entries were low, I hope you can figure it out!

For me it was lack of interest in the item. I think it is a good idea but haven't seem something that fits my world yet. Thomas or Barbie.
In asking myself what I imagine is your next question - What would I be interested in???? Hmmm...I guess as a developmental preschool teacher - if it were toys I'd love to see something with more creative potential - more basic - lego's - blocks - that make your own book thing... My guess is, in general this audience might prefer something more geared toward family time or helpful in surviving family time issues - I don't know - family charts or games that all ages can play - something like that.

My kids are all past the Thomas stage, so I didn't enter, thinking I was helping the odds for those who really wanted it. I am anti-Barbie in general so to be honest, I haven't even closely read the details on that giveaway.

My kids aren't into Thomas either, so I sat this one out :). I like the suggestion for toys with good creative potential too :).

Lis -- I guess for me it was that it required a couple of extra steps--because my kids would have loved it. It may be that I just had an extra busy week. After each reminder, I honestly planned to go back to it to enter, but just didn't get around to it. I usually get the alerts while I'm working and so the fewer steps the better. What about entering through the comment section of a post on Root & Sprout? Then, you could click and submit your name online. That would still get visitors to Root & Sprout.

I tried to enter the giveawy last week. I went through the steps and was sending the message, but my email got locked up. It slipped my mind and I did not get around to trying again until it was too late.

My children LOVE Thomas the Tank. Unfortunately for them, since we don't live anywhere near the US, I couldn't enter. I understand, though, as shipping to South Africa would be prohibitively expensive.

Two or three years ago, I would have been all over this, but my former Thomas fanatic is just a bit too old now. I don't think there was anything inherently wrong with the way you offered the giveaway though.

I didn't look at the giveaway, but for me it was the product. I don't do Thomas the Tank Engine in my house full of girls. I don't know if the requirements would have affected my desire to enter, though.
