Hey American friends - what are YOUR plans for the 4th of July?

We seem to be making a trend of going to the zoo on the 4th of July. A year ago today, my family and I were visiting family in Wichita, Kansas, and we made a trip to the Sedgwick County Zoo, one of my favorite childhood places. It was a H-O-T day, but it was awesome meeting up with my younger sister and her little girl. My mom even made a surprise visit from Georgia!

Afterward, we all made our way back to my aunt's house to celebrate both Bridget's 3rd birthday and the 4th of July holiday. There was swimming, fireworks, and a lot of good food.

This year, we are taking Bridget to the Syracuse Zoo here in upstate New York, per her birthday request. It's not a hot day today, and we won't end it with fireworks or a party, but we'll be celebrating just the same.

Originally, I was pumped to have a 4th bash here at the house. But, when I approached Hubby (he was in the wrong mood, apparently) he said... "Like one couple? How about So-&So and their kids?"

ME: "Um, no. I was thinking like a 'party'. Hubby wasn't into this. Three days ago he approaches me with, "So what are our plans this weekend." ME: "Um, nothin."

Hubby: "But, I thought you wanted to have a get together?"
ME: "Yes, a get-together... You p!$$ed on that Parade though. And, it's too late now. No biggie..."

Hubby seemed slightly disappointed. Welcome to where I was three days ago.

YESTERDAY: At the pool for a swim-play date with some life long Gal Pals and their youngins.

Me: "What are y'all doin' later?" Them: "Nothin'."

Me: "Y'all wanna' come out?" Them: "Us? Or, us and the hubbies.?"

I check in with the Hubster and he's like, "anything you want!"

:-D We had a blast, on the day-before the 4th of July. So, today it is family, low key, but some good grub and a few fireworks. The teenager and my Mom are coming out too.

What a grand life I live! What a wonderful country in which we live!

Happy Independence Day!
